Research Interests and Activities

My research interests lie in the field of Soft matter Physics; mainly on colloids and liquid crystals. In my Ph.D., I have studied the colloids in liquid crystal and associated topological defects formation, their interaction and defect transformation across nematic to smectic-A phase transition. I studied the laser assisted assembly and self-assembly of two dimensional colloidal crystal and their structural transition driven by temperature as well as electric field. I have also explored the shape anisotropic colloids (microsheets) in liquid crystal, their interaction, self-assembly and electric field driven dyanamicswith my fellow lab mates. I am very interested in biological materials, defect dynamics of liquid crystals and microemulsions. In the post-doctoral research, I am working with Liquid crystal droplet lasers and trying to incorporate in an intra-cellular medium.
I have gained ample experience in establishing laboratory, building laser tweezer, video and image analysis using various softwares. I also gained experience in creating microdroplets of liquid crystal in polymers. I have automated experimental setup using LABVIEW software
